Children’s Liturgy of the Word
Once a month, during the Liturgy of the Word, children who are old enough to take part are invited to go with Catechists to the social centre to take part in activities that support the Gospel message. They return to their parents in church during the Procession of the Gifts.
On Sunday mornings, after the 10:30am Mass, coffee, tea and biscuits are available in the lounge of the Parish Social Centre with some socialising.
Roles Supporting the Liturgy
- Altar Servers
Children who have made their first Holy Communion can become altar servers. Good servers enable us to celebrate Mass and other sacraments in a spirit of prayer.
- Eucharistic Ministers
Ministers assist with the distribution of Holy Communion at each weekend Mass and on Holy days. On occasions when a priest is not available to say Mass during the week ministers will lead a Liturgy of the Word with Holy Communion. A number of ministers take the Eucharist to those who are sick and housebound.
These volunteers welcome people to the weekend masses and are available to help and advise visitors.
- Liturgy Readers
A rota of readers proclaim the Word of God and lead our intercessions at the weekend Masses.
- Music Ministry
At the present time, various individuals and group provide music for our Sunday morning worship, including younger people. A rota of volunteers also sing the responsorial psalm at Sunday morning Mass.
- Offertory Procession
A family or other group bring the gifts to the altar at the Offertory at the Sunday morning Mass. They are selected at the beginning of the Mass.
